Curtis Ptolemy Memorial A Tournament Rules


Affiliates and Rosters

  1. Rosters must be submitted on line. Rosters must match their regular season roster ( as submitted to SLA/ALA/CDLA.)
  2. Affiliates will not be used as per SLA/ALA regulations
  3. SLA Regulations will be in effect except where otherwise noted.

 Jerseys

  1. All teams must have a set of two jerseys or be prepared with a set of pinnies
  2. Home teams, listed first on the tournament schedule, shall wear light, and AWAY shall wear dark. If team colours are similar, the Home team will be required to change jerseys.

** Mouth guards are mandatory. Invisalign braces are not considered a mouth guard.

** Wearing of jewelry on the floor is prohibited. This includes piercing, which must be covered if removal is not possible.

 

Volunteers

Each team must provide a volunteer for their teams penalty box each game.  Failure to provide a person in your box will result in forfeiting of the game.

 

Game Sheets

All games are live on ramp and teams must have their roster checked off 15 minutes prior to game start. 

 

Game Officials

All game officials will be supplied for teams at the tournament.

 

Game Length

To keep on schedule, all games will be played in the time frames listed below. Games will be permitted to end in a tie during round robin games.

 

Midget Division ( 90 minute time allowance )

5 minute warmup

2 20 minutes run time and 1 20 minute stop time 

2 minute rest between periods

Each team is allowed 1,  60 second time out

 

Each game will start on its designated time. If games take longer due to injury, it is at the discretion of the officials to shorten the third period time to keep tournament games on schedule.

   

Mercy Rule

Any game that has a goal differential of 6 goals or more shall be played at run time from that point on. Only, if the goal differential become 4 or less, does the game revert back to stop time.

 

At no time, shall a goal differential of more than 6 goals be posted on the scoreboard. Additional goals will be recorded on the game sheet only.

 

Overtime

 All round robin games will remain in a tie at the end of game. In the event a medal game is tied after regular play, overtime procedure is as such:

  •  A 2 minute rest will be given
  • 1 - 10 minute sudden death overtime period will be held
    1. Each team will be given one time out for use in overtime
  • If still tied: A 3 vs 3 shoot out will be held
  • If still tied: 1 vs 1 shootout will be held until winner is determined

 Round Robin

 In Round Robin play, points will be awarded as follows:

    1. 2 points for WIN
    2. 1 point per team for TIE
    3. 0 points for LOSS
  • In the event of a tie in points standings in a competition, final standings shall be determined as follows:
    1. If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two teams advances. If a tie still exists, the goal average formula listed below will be used.
    2. If three or more teams are tied, and if one team has defeated the other teams with which it is tied after round robin play, that team shall advance.
    3. Otherwise, Goal average formula: Only the goals scored in games between the tied teams are used in the goal average formula for tiebreaking. Teams with the highest ratio advances.
    4. Formula is goals for divided by goals for plus goals against
      1. Goals For/ (Goals For+Goals Against)

 Awards & Medals

 Medals will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place teams

 

Referees

All referee decisions made during the game are final

 

  1. Any match, game, or gross misconduct penalties will be sent to the discipline committee in the form of a Referee report. After consulting with the committee, a decision will be rendered regarding the suspension, and decision will be final.
  2. Official protests in regard to conduct on the field will not be considered.
  3. Any team who deliberately attempts to delay the game will be assessed a two minute delay of game penalty. If this occurs in the last two minutes of the game, a penalty shot will be awarded.
  4. ** Mouth guards are mandatory for the Curtis Ptolemy Tournament. Any player found on the floor not wearing a mouth guard will be asked to leave the game until the player can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the officials that they have a mouth guard. In addition, the team will be assessed a 2 minute penalty for delay of game, serving player is to be from a player on the floor at the time of the infraction.

 

*** Abuse of referees, game officials, or tournament committee members will not be tolerated, and will be grounds for expulsion of the individual, and/or team involved at the discretion of the Discipline Committee. Unruly fans may be barred from the tournament arenas at the discretion of the Referee, or Tournament Director.***

 

Dressing Rooms and facilities

 

Teams are responsible for the state of their dressing rooms. Prior to a team taking the dressing room, please check the dressing room. If it is dirty or damaged, please report to the tournament committee desk at the location to have this addressed and cleaned up. Any damages found will be considered the responsibility of the last team who used the dressing room. If teams leave a dressing room excessively dirty, they will be assessed a two minute minor to begin the game.

 

*** Absolutely NO Balls are to be thrown, cradled, etc., outside of the designated playing surface, in any of the tournament facilities. Offenders will have their lacrosse balls confiscated. No exceptions.
